Many pharmaceutical companies offer smoking cessation programs for patients who are prescribed or instructed to use medicine to help them quit. If you are taking any of the following medicines to help you quit smoking, look in the package insert for information:

-Varenicline tablets (Chantix)
-Bupropion SR (Zyban)
-Nicotine gum
-Nicotine patch
-Nicotine inhaler
-Nicotine nasal spray

Finally, don't forget that your doctor or nurse may be able to help you find smoking cessation programs and resources in your community. Ask him or her at your next visit.

Description: This is a stage based education program that helps individuals become tobacco free for a lifetime. It examines the smoker's present and past habits as a smoker and challenges the reasons why they smoke and how they can successfully change the addictions and conditions of the habit. The program can be presented at the worksite in a classroom environment OR can stand alone as a self-help course geared to the individual who is ready to quit and needs support and motivaton.

The Guidance Clinic

Naval Air Station Jacksonville Wellness Center
Tobacco Cessation Overview with instructions to use Nicotine Replacement
-Initial one-hour session focusing on the effects of nicotine addiction and emphasize behavior modification and stress management. Weekly follow-up sessions are then scheduled to address nutrition/weight management, and relapse prevention.

Tobacco Cessation Overview with Instructions to use Zyban - This 60 minute session is for those interested in taking "Zyban." Active duty members may then be seen at the Branch Medical Clinic while, family members and retirees must be seen by a Naval Hospital physician for the actual prescription. Participants may also attend follow-up sessions for additional education, support, and nicotine replacement, if needed.

Group Hypnosis To Quit Smoking - This 90-minute session will help your subconscious mind get the message to help you quit and stay quit.

Nicotine Replacement - Patches and gum are provided free of charge to all active duty and Tri-Care enrollees participating in our programs.
